FAMILY MINISTRIES

Family Ministry at Christ Lincoln exists to glorify God by raising up authentic Christ centered families who pass on vibrant faith in Jesus Christ to the next generation (Psalm 78:4-7). This is a strategic partnership between the church and home with the purpose of connecting parents and children with the truth of God’s Word, equipping parents to engage actively in the discipleship and spiritual formation of their children, and empowering people at every stage of life to make a positive difference in the world for Christ.

MOTHER PRETEEN RETREAT

MARCH 20TH - 22ND

EMBASSEY SUITES AND UNIVERSITY CHAPEL

Moms, here's a wonderful chance to spend focused time with your daughter in grades 4-6.  From Fri night until noon Sun, your weekend will be filled with laughter, sharing, connecting and exploration of her, her gifts, your relationship.  We know that the next years test the mom/daughter connection and we want to help support you!  God's great grand love for your daughter, His delight in her as a princess, and your own ability to hold out a strong arm for her to grasp when the going gets complicated - that's what this retreat will do.

What will we all do together?  We are at the Embassy Suites and the beautifully remodeled UNL Chapel up the street.  The time is filled both with playful activity, intense activity and sheer relaxation.  Below is a sample schedule that will help you get a sense of the weekend.  Jointly hosted by Christ Lincoln and Messiah Lutheran Family Ministries, we welcome all moms and daughters currently in grades 4,5 and 6.

Registration must be received by Feb 26 in order to get this wonderful price:

1. Suite for both nights for just the two of you: $250

2. Suite for both nights with a bonus daughter: $275

3. Suite for both nights if you're willing to share with another mom/daughter duo: $150

All moms & daughters are welcome; you need not be a member of Christ Lincoln or Messiah Lutheran.

This month's theme:  READY, SET, GO!

FRIENDSHIP FAMILIES

We have amazing English-speaking families from around the world right here in Lincoln NE.  Students & their families come here for graduate studies at UNL.  70% of these open & curious students NEVER see the inside of an American home nor get the chance to develop a relationship with an American family.  Your whole family can reach out as a Friendship Family to a small family, usually a couple with one child. No need to clean the house or get formal - they would love to simply connect monthly and do what you do, learn about your family life.  Mark Meyer at University Lutheran Chapel will tell us all about how this works.  We’ll make it easy for you.  You can share your culture, your faith and your family & learn a lot about another culture in the process.

Sumner Campus Info Meeting:  Sunday Sept 8, 9:30 – 10:20, MS1

Yankee Hill Campus Info Meeting:  Sunday Sept 8 after worship (11:20)

MEALS ON WHEELS

Pick a weekend lunchtime that fits in your schedule, and your family of ALL ages can deliver meals to shut-ins together!  We have adopted Saturday and Sunday lunch routes - no every-week commitment, just do it when it works for you!  Jena will lead an informational meeting Saturday, September 7th @ 10:30 a.m. at Tabitha, then all families will get to go out on a route to try it on for size.

ADOPT AN ELDER

Did you know 60% of those currently in retirement facilities have 0 visitors in a whole year?  We will match your family up with a senior who would love to have an adopted ‘family’ to see once a month at least.  We’ll gift you with some games & activities to try, under the leadership of gerontology expert Renea Gernant.  If you want to find out when she’ll be leading the short workshop, sign up on form below.  No obligation, just come find out more.  We’ll find a suitable time for all.

FRONT DOOR FAMILIES
